Benevolence

Matt 25:40 says, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”

Here and elsewhere in the Bible we are admonished to help those in need and the Benevolence Fund at Heritage was set up for that purpose. The fund provides two types of financial support: 1) on-going monthly support for Graceworks and Meals-on-Wheels, and 2) responding to specific requests for assistance from members or situations brought to our attention from other sources. We try to deal with needs of our own members first and we respond to other needs as funds are available. Each request is evaluated to the best of our ability for legitimacy and the entire Benevolence Committee is polled for their input on the matter before any action is taken.

We maintain a good relationship with the Public Health Service of Williamson County and have responded to several requests from them for needs that are beyond the scope of what they can do. This type of activity makes our church more well-known in the community and hopefully results in the easing of the difficulties of life for a few folks. Our funds are limited and the needs are great even in this prosperous county.

In addition to the Benevolence Fund, Heritage also supports the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort, which sends emergency supplies to areas affected by natural disasters, and the House of Compassion in Rochester, MN, where lodging is provided for families of patients at the Mayo Clinic.
